Ringette - On the ice

Skating on a ringette team is as thrilling and terrifying as a wild roller coaster.  The stench of the other players and myself was horrifying.  The cheering crowd waited in anticipation as my player passed me the ring.  I could feel the tug of the ring on my ringette stick.  Players from the other team pressed up against me, trying to check me.  I breathed in the sweet smell of the delicious food from the concession stand.  It gave me energy and I surged forward leaving my opponents in the dust.  I skated past my coaches doors.  There screaming voices, hoarse from shouting so much, filled my ears with one word: GO! As I pushed my skates into the ice, zooming forward.  I skated as fast as the wind toward the humongous, towering, goalie.  Using my lateral movement to go one way then dig my skates into the hard ice and go the other way.  I shot.  Everything seemed to go in slow motion.  The goalie dove but missed, the ring shot into the net like a bullet.  I cringed when the buzzer sounded, it split my ears open like the roaring of a thousand lions.  But my team had looks of delight on their faces, so I put a goofy grin on my face, happy that we had won.  Happy that we had won gold!
